The ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter has over 70 member organisations covering all areas of conference management – from venues and Convention Bureaux, to hotels, airlines and PCOs. The Chapter is very active – holding two well attended exciting Debates in the Summer and the Winter each year as well as other activities. Since April 2005 Brian Horsburgh (from the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre) has chaired the Chapter. The very active Committee is made up of representatives from the four countries of the UK and Ireland as well as over a wide range of conference services.
The Committee’s aim is to provide representation for its Members to the ICCA Board, and to run a good variety of events for its Members each year. In addition events like National Meetings Week and the Business Tourism Partnership are supported.
In 2006 the Chapter formed a three year business partnership with Leith’s in order to expand and enhance the Chapter’s member programme and launch joint initiatives. This, coupled with the ‘Marketing Membership’ offered to existing Chapter supporters, has enabled the Committee to expand its activities and services to the Members.
One of the new initiatives is this website and as well as an active PR campaign for the Chapter targeting media both within the UK and Ireland and internationally to raise the profile of the region as a conference destination and to highlight the services our members offer. The Winter Debate is also now held outside the UK and Ireland with a view to forging closer links with other ICCA Chapters.
The Committee welcomes comments and feedback from the Chapter Members as well as enquiries from conference organisers throughout the world and hope that the Members can assist you in bringing your event to the UK or Ireland and to making it a memorable experience.
Best wishes
Brian Horsburgh
