Presentations + Question/Answer session
Audience profile: General interest with particular relevance for Meetings Management executives.
Session description: Online communities and networked societies are not a media invention: they are real and here and changing the rules of business development, communication, competition, and live events. A new generation of delegates has radically different perspectives and expectations; established, traditional marketing methodologies are becoming less and less effective. But there is a great deal of confusion about exactly what is happening in hyperspace and on the ground, and a great deal of hype and jargon to strip away to find the really useful information that can help us prepare our businesses for the future. This session is designed to open delegates' eyes to the trends and opportunities, and to stimulate fresh strategic thinking about the future role and shape of meetings.
Alex Norman runs LiveWorld-WPP, a joint venture with marketing agency giant WPP, assisting hundreds of the world's biggest brands to effectively utilise new media and social networking, deploying its services over 70 countries. His insights into the changing nature of strategic marketing and where live events fit into this networked future are far-reaching and globally relevant. Laurent Haug gives a complementary perspective on these trends: an entrepreneur specialising in online communities, social networking, and the impact of technology on society, he has launched a series of successful events in Europe and Asia to create and bring together a new community: NGO's, investors, researchers, students, start-ups, established entrepreneurs and big corporations all working in this field - hear how he integrates the ideas of social networking and online communities into his own events on that subject, and how his approach has delivered tremendous growth and profitability.
