Education Programme
We are looking for a limited number of ICCA volunteers to join the faculty for the following sessions:
Taking place on Monday 9 November from 14.15-15.45, we are looking for panel members for the discussion forum Dirty Tricks . Legitimate (which we encourage) and illegitimate / unethical (which we don t encourage!) sneaky tricks to help win bids, steal clients, gain unfair advantages over competitors, guerrilla marketing, etc. We are looking for members who may have used such tactics and are brave enough to come and talk about it, or members who have had these tactics used against them. Juan Jose Garcia from Viajes Iberia Congresos, Spain, will be moderating this session.
We would also like volunteers for the panel for The Left Handed Delegate discussion forum (Tuesday 10 November from 11.00-12.30). We are looking for members who are left handed and would like to join a panel to share their experiences. Chris McManus is the speaker for this session. He is the author of Right Hand Left Hand and is a Professor of Psychology and Medical Education at the University of Central London.
Lastly we are looking for volunteers for a discussion forum on Green Meetings / CSR. We are looking for members who want to speak about these issues and lead discussions. We need a moderator and table leaders to lead group discussions. This is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11 November from 10.45-12.15.
If you are interested, please email Jill Frazer.

Warm Welcome for First Time Attendees
Saturday 07 November 2009
Is this your first ICCA General Assembly and Congress? Not sure what to attend, how to contribute, where to go for advice? What is an ICCA Data Workshop? What education sessions should you attend? What happens during Sector Meetings? What are Chapter Meetings?
Make plans to arrive in time to attend the lunch and the special session for First Time Attendees on Saturday afternoon where you ll get to meet the ICCA Board of Directors and all the key ICCA staff, who are on hand to make sure you have the most successful experience possible during your visit to the Congress. Specially assigned Mentors will guide you through the maze of formal association procedures (which we keep as brief and simple as possible), the range of education sessions and networking opportunities, and give you practical hints and ideas to maximise your return on investment from attending this major event. Whatever questions you have, bring them to this session and you ll be sure to get an answer!
You ll find that ICCA s business culture is one where experience, skills, ideas and even business leads are passed on freely between members. You only have a few days to absorb this unique culture, and the First Time Attendees session will ensure you can proactively contribute and gain important experiences from the start.
Meet other ICCA members who face the same situation as yourself: some are sure to become your most valued networking partners, as you learn together how to make the most of ICCA s superb global connections.
Note: This session is mainly aimed at people who are relatively new to ICCA and the industry. For people who have been in the industry for some time, but have never attended the ICCA Congress before, this session might not bring much new information, however it is an excellent opportunity to meet other newcomers and start the networking and exchanging of business early!

CSR - Green ICCA Actions
This year ICCA and the Local Host Committee are taking several actions as an extra effort to be more environmentaly friendly at the ICCA Congress, keep on reading to see what's being done.
Congress bags: this year ICCA will not be handing out Congress bags to its delegates, instead we are encouraging everyone to bring their own bag to use at the Congress. Environmentally friendly bags will be available for delegates who do not have a bag.
Delegate badges and lanyards: all badges used at the Congress are made from bio degradable materials and the lanyards are made from corn.
Printed material: all Congress printed material has, and will be printed on recycled paper. Also, upon registration all Congress delegates will be given the option to choose which publications they would like to take with them and which ones they would rather skip, to avoid some publications being binned or left behind in delegate hotel rooms.
Transport: this year there won't be any assigned transportation to other venues/events. Everything is at a walking distance, therefore all transportation will be done by foot.
I&MI Media Charity Walking City Tour (sponsored by I&MI Media):
Instead of the I&MI Media Classic Golf Tournament this year (Ferrari suddenly took over the only two golf courses within range of Florence for a big promo with clients at exactly the same time we had a provisional booking) we found a great alternative and will launch the I&MI Media s Charity Walk. The traditional city tour offered to Congress Delegates is being replaced with a self guided charity walking tour of Florence. All delegates will receive detailed information on where to go and what to do with personal recommendations from our local members. I&MI Media are putting in exactly the same amount of funding so that even more money will go to this year's charity, the Foundation of the Florence Childrens Hospital Meyer, which does great outreach work all over the world. Delegates are encouraged to add their donations. For more details on the tour please visit the website.
