October 2012 is going to be a busy month. IMEX America takes place from 9 to 11 October in Las Vegas, with Association Day on the 8th, and just over a week later the ICCA Congress takes place in Puerto Rico from 20 to 24 October. ICCA’s dates were set before IMEX America was planned, and we explored whether we could move a week earlier to dovetail with the trade show or move a week or two later, but this was not possible because of other contracted business plus the timing of the US/Puerto Rico elections.
What this means is that individuals wishing to attend both events will need to carefully plan their timetable and flights. To help with this process, here are some options that ICCA members might want to consider:
1.Send different executives to IMEX America and ICCA Congress; or make two separate round trips with one week back in the office.
2.Schedule sales calls or promotional events aimed at US corporate and/or association clients in the week between the shows. We will be providing customised database searches and practical advice to help members design effective sales plans, on the US East Coast or in other regions.
3.Book a few days leave – ICCA members in the USA and Mexico will be approached to offer great-value leisure packages for colleagues looking to relax between these intensive events. We’ll promote the options as soon as the details are known.
4.Work from a “virtual home office” to complete all your post-IMEX follow up emails, phone calls, and RFP responses. We’re in the process of clarifying precisely how to do this in Puerto Rico during the week prior to the Congress, and will circulate more information in the next couple of weeks.
5.Combine any of options 2 to 4!
ICCA members should note that the Congress will be carefully designed so that they have free WiFi and facilities that will enable them to keep fully up to date with their day-to-day business priorities whilst they are in Puerto Rico.
