Getting Around
Taxis, buses and car rentals offer visitors convenient ground transportation. Taxis are a good and fairly inexpensive way of getting around Puerto Rico. Easily identifiable "Taxi Turístico" or tourist taxis operate on a fare-zone basis among the airport or cruise ship pier and designated tourist zones that include the San Juan resorts and Old San Juan. All other times they are hired on a metered basis or rented on an hourly rate. You can either wave one down on the street or call one by phone and they'll take you anywhere in Puerto Rico.
Trolleys
If the heat or the steep hills of Old San Juan get the better of you, the Old San Juan Trolley Tour is there to save you. With its distinctively antique-looking cars, the trolley is a great way to move around Old San Juan without breaking a sweat or your piggybank, since it's free of charge.
