Linda Pereira, Executive Director, CPL Events, Portugal
Working in the Meeting Industry has never been more interesting or more exciting. However for those new to the industry it may seem like a hotchpotch of acronyms and overlapping service providers and it is difficult to understand exactly what it is all about and who does what and why. The industry is constantly changing and over the last 15 years has evolved into a Professional, competitive and highly demanding knowledge- based arena. This session will provide an introduction to the Meeting Industry by analysing types of events, types of clients and defining service providers. Definitions of association, corporate and other types of meetings will be given. Attendees will learn about the various types of events and the basic requirements of destinations who want to be players in this Industry. The differences between PCOs, DMCs and AMCs will also be analysed. A fun, interactive and energetic session that will tell you all you ever needed to know about the Meeting Industry.
