Emerging Leaders Challenge – your opportunity to present at AIME. A joint initiative by ICCA and ABEA.

ICCA is committed to giving the young leaders of our industry a global platform. That is why we are collaborating with the Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) to give the best rising talent a chance to shine on stage at the upcoming 2024 Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Event (AIME).

The cream of the APAC – and global - business meetings community will be at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 19-21 Feb. This is a unique opportunity for Emerging Leaders to join in and share your brilliant ideas at the AIME Leadership Forum (Mon 19) on how to attract, retain and motivate new talent.

The challenge is to help our industry create tangible and sustainable ways of attracting, developing, and rewarding passionate young professionals. And who better to lead the conversation than someone aged between 18 – 35, or who has been in this industry for less than 10 years. This is your chance to bring your thoughts, experiences, and ideas into an open forum with people who can and will amplify your idea.

If you are interested – and you’re a member of ABAE – you need to forward your submission via the ABEA website by Thursday 1 Feb.

If you are selected as a winner, you will present your topic to 100+ industry leaders at AIME’s leadership forum ‘The Business Events Proposition’. The winning submission will be the ‘conversation starter’ to kick off the forum, provoking industry professionals to think, listen, and share ideas about the topic.

As a winner, you will receive:

  • The opportunity to deliver a high-profile 3-5-minute presentation at the beginning of the forum.

  • A complimentary ticket to attend AIME.

  • Return flights to Melbourne from your city*.

  • Two nights’ accommodation in the fantastic city of Melbourne.

  • Industry-leading ICCASkills Certified International Convention Specialist scholarship.

*Economy flights to Melbourne before 9 am February 19.

The top 3 candidates selected from submissions will receive 2 mentor sessions with selected ABEA Council Chairs in 2024.

The Top 10 candidates will have their applications distributed amongst industry leaders to view, and will also receive a certificate for participation, a great addition to your work portfolio.

If you wish to apply, please consider the following when submitting your idea in response to the challenge question: What should be the Business Events industry’s proposition for Emerging Leaders to better attract and retain talent?

  • Career pathways and opportunities.
  • Education and training.
  • Well-being, burn-out and work-life balance.
  • Diversity and inclusion.
  • Compensation and benefits.
  • Key communication messages within the recruitment process.

Full submission criteria, terms, and conditions are available on the ABEA website

Submissions must include a 3-page written response and a video presentation no longer than 3 minutes, addressing the question.
