ICCA 2011 statistics show increased market share for Latin America in international association meetings market

ICCA’s 2011 statistics show that Latin America’s market share in the international association meetings industry has grown in the last 10 years from 7.2% in 2002 to 10.5% in 2011.
 
ICCA is reporting another year of continued global strength in the international association meetings market. For the first time ever, more than 10,000 regularly occurring association events which rotate between at least three countries were identified by ICCA members and ICCA’s in-house research team as having taken place during 2011, over 800 more than identified a year previously.
 
Reflecting this increase in Latin America’s importance in the international meetings industry, for the first time ever there are currently three Latin American Presidents of major international meetings industry Associations – ICCA, Site, and IAPCO. ICCA President Arnaldo Nardone from Uruguay will join Site President Alejandro Verzoub and IAPCO President Gonzalo Perez Constanzo, both from Argentina, to participate in a panel to analyze the current meetings and incentives industry in Latin America from the perspectives of their associations at FIEXPO LATIN AMERICA, which takes place 5-6 June at Conrad Punta del Este Resort & Casino in Uruguay.
 
ICCA President Arnaldo Nardone commented: “I am so looking forward to sharing this important speaking platform with my fellow Presidents from Site and IAPCO. It is vital for the future prosperity of Latin America that more business leaders, politicians, and other opinion-leaders become aware of the powerful potential of international meetings for economic and business development, and for knowledge transfer and creation. By working in harmony in this way we can deliver an even more impactful advocacy message both within and beyond our industry.”
 
Latin America is also particularly significant for ICCA this year because its 51st ICCA Congress will be organized in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 20-24 October, an event which is anticipated to attract an all-time record number of Latin American delegates from all across the region.
