The ICCA Research, Sales & Marketing Programme took place last week in Bregenz from 13 – 16 June 2012. A total of 132 delegates from 35 countries, covering every continent gathered in Bregenz, Austria for this year’s ICCA RSMP making it a truly international event!
Delegates experienced a packed three day educational programme led by a faculty made up from experienced ICCA members and association clients. The sessions included workshops, a four part Request for Proposal exercise that required the delegates to prepare a bid for the clients based on a real RFP, Business Exchange, one on one private sessions with faculty and ICCA Data Researchers, and Behind the Scenes tours of the Bregenz Festival House, a venue known for being used in the last James bond movie Quantum of Solace.
Besides the great turn up this year ICCA also had another surprise in store for our delegates. This was the first time Shockfish SA introduced their new SpotMe app (for iPhone, iPad and iPod) to the audience, moving on and replacing their old SpotMe device. Here’s what delegates had to say about the new SpotMe app:
“SpotMe device was easy and fun to use and above all enhanced the experience of networking during the ICCA Research, Sales and Marketing Programme 2012 in Bregenz. The list of delegates with their photos, the messaging system and QR code scanning on top of the direct personal contact enabled a friendly and smooth interaction among delegates and faculty.” – Luka Zajc, Ljubljana Exhibitiona and Convention Centre, Slovenia.
"The SpotMe App used for the irsmp 12 was very helpful and useful in same time. Every information was updated just in time. The messaging possibility was a big goal which I used to find other attendees of interest on site. Further I want to thank the guys from Shockfish for their support and general information regarding handling and using features.” - Soner Avci, KKL Luzern, Switzerland
For more information on the SpotMe device you can read this article or visit the official SpotMe website.
Our local hosts also organised a fantastic social programme which included a Welcome Cocktail on a futuristic ship, a networking dinner in the beautiful Austrian mountains, with traditional food, drink, entertainment and games, a Charity Casino Evening where the delegates raised over 900 euro’s for the Kinder von Chernobylcharity foundation, and a James Bond Themed farewell party - Licence to Chill! These fun evenins greatly enhanced the networking between delegates and faculty, and discussions that started in the session rooms carried on well into the night! For a personal story of how a delegate experienced this year's ICCA RMSP please read this Member Press Release from Merryl Fairfoot from the Durban Convention Bureau. You can also watch the interview with Christian Mutschlechner below on the importance of attending the ICCA Research, Sales & Marketing Programme and his view on the new SpotMe app.
Initial feedback from delegates, both verbal and from the SpotMe onsite feedback, has been very positive! All delegates have been asked to complete an online survey, the results of which should be known later next month.
And the best of this all? The whole event was a certified green meeting. So not only the ICCA staff were green but they managed to turn Bregenz green as well!
In closing ICCA would like to thank all of those involved: delegates, sponsors, faculty, local host committee and ICCA staff for making this event possible. Our next ICCA RSMP will take place from Sunday 7 July – Wednesday 10 July (a change to the normal Wednesday to Saturday pattern) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. More details of the 2013 programme will be added to our website soon.
We hope to see many of you again in Amsterdam next year!
