International Medical Device Congress to Be Hosted in Izmir, Turkey

4th National and 1st International Medical Device Congress supported by the Turkish Ministry of Health, will be held between 27-30 September 2012, in Cesme - Izmir, Turkey.
The Congress is organized by The Aegean Medical Device Suppliers Association on behalf of TUMDEF (The Federation of Turkish Medical Device Associations) and SEIS ( Health Industry Employer's Association of Turkey).
The first congress was held between 02-05th of February, 2006 and hosted around 300 participants. Mr. Maurice Wagner, EUCOMED Director-General of that time, was the key note speaker. Subsequently, in 2008 the second and in 2011 third were held in Antalya and became a biennial activity since then.
The congress provides opportunities for the evaluation of the current situation of the medical sector in Turkey. Medical device manufacturers, importers, vendors and representatives of related government authorities (such as The Ministry of Health, Social Security Institution, Public Tenders Authority etc.); representatives of non-governmental organizations, and academicians come together to share the latest developments in the sector and work on strategies for the future.
This year marks the first international gathering of the congress with the participation and contribution of the authorities of non-governmental organizations abroad, representatives of international firms and experts of the field. The developments in the other medical markets and information concerning practices will be shared during the congress. Furthermore, there will be an "outsourcing matching event", which brings together the outsourcing companies and volunteered manufacturers.
With pre-arranged meetings and workshops on offset, new chances of cooperation between the participant companies will be provided. Also medical clusters are invited for collaboration. There will be a session devoted to the topics of outsourcing and clustering in medical sector.
The nomination of Izmir with the theme "New routes to a better world / Health for all" for EXPO 2020 is another chance for the medical device technologies sector to come to fore in the world agenda. A special session is planned for this occasion together with the topic of health tourism, which is believed, going to have some important effects on the medical device markets in the near future.
We expect participation of not only owners of the medical device firms and vendors, but also local and international individuals who plan on investing in the business as well as academicians, and students who wish to work in the sector.
